Make A Good First Impression
There is the saying “You never get a second chance to make a good first impression” and that people make their minds up about you in the first 30 seconds or so. With that in mind, I thought I would share some top tips on how to make a good first impression when starting new team members or meeting customers.
Dress to Impress
Wear AVON products – this is the best endorsement that you believe in your products and company. For women this is easy, as there are so many great AVON products and not just make-up. A handbag or piece of jewelry is a great way of showcasing AVON products. If you are a man, why not use one of AVON’s aftershaves or wear a watch from AVON. Present Your Business Well
Make sure that your brochures packs look clean and tidy. If you are using an e-mail address (or website) make sure that it sounds professional. Take your business seriously and be professional. People will treat you seriously and have confidence in you straight away – whether it be a new customer or team member. Also, do what you have said you will – turn up on time and collect your brochures when you say you will.
Smile and Be Positive
Smiling and being positive goes such a long way in making a good first impression. People like to be around happy and positive people. Being enthusiastic and friendly is so important. We are in a people business – where people buy people. A genuine smile immediately breaks the ice with new people.
Focus on the Other Person
Get to know the other person – focus on them and what they want. There is a saying “People dont’ care how much you know, until they know you care” – that is so true. Ask the other person about themselves and actively listen. Try to establish some common ground by asking open ended questions. Also paying a genuine and sincere compliment goes a long way to building up a rapport quickly.
